About Hyderabad

Hyderabad carries two histories at once — the Qutb Shahi and Nizami city of the Charminar, Golconda and the Chowmahalla Palace, and the modern one that made it a technology capital. For visiting groups it is unusually well-stocked: a serious hill fort, a world-class museum, a lake in the middle of the city, and Ramoji Film City, which is the largest film studio complex in the world and effectively a full day on its own.

Hyderabad — common questions

Should we fly or drive to Hyderabad from Kerala?

Fly or take the train. It is around 1,150 km from Kottayam, close to twenty hours of driving, which is more than most groups want at either end of a holiday. The usual arrangement is to travel by air or rail and have us handle transport, stays and sightseeing from arrival — that is a normal way for us to plan a trip.

How much time does Ramoji Film City need?

A full day, and it is best treated as its own item rather than squeezed against city sightseeing. It is the largest film studio complex in the world and the site is very large. Groups that try to combine it with the Charminar and Golconda in one day generally see all three badly.
